Understanding your Payslip: CIPP: an interactive payslip tool to help you understand your payslip and how it is broken down. Bills & Cost of Living: Citizens Advice: has general advice on getting help with the cost of living and bills. Household Support Fund: Local councils offer help with essential costs. You need to contact your local council to apply. Council search here. Cost of Living Payments: if you get certain benefits or tax credits, you might get a cost of living payment. Council Tax Reduction: you could get up to 100% off if you have a low income or claim benefits, or 25% off if you live alone. You need to talk to your local council to apply. Council search here. Energy Grants: Major energy companies have millions in grants to help those with money problems. Social Tariffs: Social tariffs are cheaper internet and phone plans for people on Universal Credit, Pension Credit, and some other benefits. Some companies call them ‘essential’ or ‘basic’ internet. Water Bill: CCW gives information and tools to help you lower your bills or get financial help. This includes advice on different schemes water companies offer. Help for Households: general government advice on support for living costs and saving money on energy bills. Child Care: Child care Choices: Government help with childcare costs for parents. Government help: Use this calculator to find out how much you could get for approved childcare. Sure Start: Sure Start centers offer help and advice on child and family health, parenting, money, training, and jobs. Some centers also provide early learning and full-day care for young children. Sure Start Maternity Grant: You could get a one-time payment to help with child costs if you are on certain benefits. Your local Citizens Advice might also have debt specialists who can give personal advice. Disability Support: Access to Work: Access to Work can help you get or stay in a job if you have a physical or mental health condition or disability. Disability Grants: Find what is available nationally and locally by searching the sections. Scope: Services that provide practical and emotional support. Citizens Advice: General information on benefits if you are sick or disabled. Citizens Advice - Transport: Help with transport costs. Domestic Abuse: For immediate help in pharmacies and Jobcentres, ask for ANI. You will be offered a private space and asked if you need support. Safe Space: Organizations providing Safe Spaces include Boots, Morrisons pharmacies, Superdrug pharmacies, Well pharmacies, independent pharmacies, HSBC, TSB, The Co-operative Bank, and some Metro Banks. You can use a safe space in any way that works for you. They offer a safe and private way to reach out to friends and family, and can connect you to special support services. Women’s Aid: For information on domestic abuse. Bright Sky: a safe, easy-to-use app and website that gives practical help and information on how to deal with domestic abuse. Action Helpline: available 24/7 on 01512 686 992. Alcoholics Anonymous: for help and support with alcohol. Frank: Find details of local and national services. NHS: general advice on support and treatments. Food: Trussell Trust: For your local food banks, you will need a referral. You can get this from your local citizens advice or another organization like your GP, housing association, or social worker. You might be able to use a social supermarket for cheaper food: Community Grocery, Community Shop Stores, Your Local Pantry, or The Real Junk Food Project. Healthy Start: If you are at least 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4, you could get help to buy milk, fruit, and vegetables. Olio: an app to give away things you no longer need, food, and other items. Too Good to Go: Download the app to see if you can save food in your local area for ⅓ of the original price. RSPCA Pet Food Bank: Food banks for pets and their owners. Funerals & Bereavements: Government - Bereavement Support: You might get Bereavement Support Payment if your partner has died. My Funeral Matters: If a loved one dies and you think they might have bought a funeral plan but you cannot find the information, you can use the funeral matters tracing service to help find one. General Help: Local Welfare Assistance: Your local council might help you get furniture and with other issues like debt, food, and fuel poverty. They do this through local welfare assistance schemes (LWASs), also known as local welfare provision (LWP) or crisis support.
